New BIOS Update by Gigabyte for Ryzen 9000 Series

It seems that motherboard manufacturers have begun preparing for the launch of the Zen 5 CPU platform, with several companies releasing firmware updates to ensure optimal support for the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9000 series desktop CPUs.

A few days ago, MSI released the AGESA 1.2.0.0 BIOS firmware update for the AM5 platform, which includes a series of new fixes and enhancements. However, Gigabyte went further by releasing the AGESA 1.2.0.0a firmware update specifically for Zen 5 CPUs.

The differences between Gigabyte’s and MSI’s AGESA firmware updates are still uncertain, but one thing is certain: they are both aimed at optimizing performance on the AMD Ryzen 9000 CPU platform.

While Gigabyte did not list the changes in their new update, MSI stated that their firmware brings performance improvements to the upcoming Zen 5 platform and fixes some stability issues with mainstream NVIDIA GPUs like GeForce RTX 4070 and RTX 4060.

Gigabyte is the first company to release the AGESA 1.2.0.0a firmware update, marking this as its initial patch release for this new firmware version. Currently, MSI has released version 1.2.0.0; considering Gigabyte has already launched version 1..2..00a, likely, MSI will also soon release version .12..00.a The firmware can be downloaded from Gigabyte’s official website under X670E AORUS XTREME section indicating that this manufacturer is currently working on consolidating all its X600 series motherboards onto one page starting with high-end products.

With AMD Ryzen9-000 CPUs set to be released soon, many people naturally look forward to seeing motherboard manufacturers roll out corresponding firmware updates to provide optimal support for this platform.
