Recently, there have been rumors that MSI’s flagship RTX 5090 SUPRIM graphics card caught fire and was completely recalled. MSI quickly responded and clarified the situation.
According to reports, the issue originated from a Dutch retailer, Your Game Specialist. A customer pre-ordered an MSI RTX 5090 SUPRIM from them but did not receive it after more than a month of waiting.
During communication, the customer service representative informed him that five RTX 5090 SUPRIM cards had caught fire and were all recalled, which was why additional time was needed for shipping.
Foreign media reached out to the retailer’s owner and confirmed that the customer service claim was completely unfounded, and there was no recall.
In its statement, MSI called the reports of RTX 5090 SUPRIM catching fire and being recalled completely baseless, stating that they had no idea where the rumors originated from and reserved the right to take further legal action.
MSI also pointed out that Your Game Specialist is not an authorized MSI retail partner and has no direct relationship with the company.
MSI advised customers to purchase graphics cards only from official retailers.
