Apple plans to begin mass production of the new, low-cost iPhone SE 4 in October this year, but this highly anticipated phone won’t officially launch until 2025.
The good news is that, according to the latest reports, this model will definitely be worth the wait as it will support the new Apple Intelligence features. These features are expected to debut with iOS 18.1 and include Apple’s latest generative AI technology. It is well known that running these high-end features requires powerful hardware support, especially in terms of chips, neural engines, and sufficient memory. Therefore, the iPhone SE 4 is highly likely to be equipped with the powerful A18 chip.
In addition, memory capacity is also a crucial hardware requirement for running Apple Intelligence. Given that the iPhone 15 Pro models, which have 8GB of memory, are the first to enjoy this feature, and based on previous comments from Apple executives, it suggests that only iPhones with 8GB or more memory will support the operation of Apple Intelligence. It can thus be inferred that the iPhone SE 4 will also be equipped with 8GB of memory.
Besides being Apple’s first low-cost phone to feature an OLED screen, previous reports have already hinted that the performance of the iPhone SE 4 will be comparable to the iPhone 16, all thanks to its A18 chip. Recently, well-known Apple insider Mark Gurman further confirmed in his latest “Power On” newsletter that this low-cost model, set to be released in 2025, will not only adopt a design similar to the iPhone 14 but will also fully support Apple Intelligence features.
Gurman revealed that Apple will launch the new iPhone SE in early 2025, marking the first upgrade to this product line since 2022. The new model’s exterior design will resemble the iPhone 14 and will be equipped with a clearer OLED display. This change will enhance the screen’s display quality, offering a more stunning visual experience. And it is almost certain that this iPhone SE 4 will have the hardware capability to run Apple Intelligence features.
In addition to a powerful chip, the iPhone SE 4 is also expected to feature Face ID facial recognition and a USB-C port, both of which are configurations Apple has introduced in its high-end models in recent years. If these specifications are ultimately realized, the iPhone SE 4 will be a low-cost phone with both outstanding performance and a modern design.
However, despite these exciting upgrades, the success of this phone will ultimately depend on its pricing strategy. If Apple can provide flagship-level hardware configurations and advanced AI features while maintaining a low price, then the iPhone SE 4 is sure to become a hot seller in the market. Gurman is optimistic about this, believing that Apple has a chance to launch this high-end configuration model in the mid-price range.
With performance levels akin to the iPhone 16 and 8GB of memory, the iPhone SE 4 is undoubtedly a product to look forward to. But whether this will truly be the case will only be confirmed with its official release in 2025.
