Intel Under Pressure: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X3D Unveiled!

A few days ago, I shared news about AMD’s new Ryzen 5 7600X3D, and now there are leaks about the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, expected to launch within the next two months.

Honestly, even as a tech writer, I find the pace and volume of these new releases overwhelming. Still, I want to discuss another upcoming “X3D” series processor.

The Ryzen 7000 series 3D-Vcache models have mostly been released, and rumors about the Ryzen 9000 series are also circulating. So, what is this “new” model? It’s the Ryzen 5 9600X3D.

While this information isn’t from a confirmed source, it seems credible because both the Ryzen 5 5600X3D and Ryzen 5 7600X3D exist, making the 9600X3D likely as well. These processors often come from the same series, downgraded from higher-tier models.

For example, if the Ryzen 7 7800X3D has a couple of faulty cores, AMD might disable those and lower the clock speed, resulting in the Ryzen 5 7600X3D. Therefore, it’s plausible for the Ryzen 5 9600X3D to exist, though it’s unusual that it’s being teased so early compared to its predecessors.

Regarding differences from the Ryzen 5 7600X3D and Ryzen 7 9800X3D, specific parameters for the 9600X3D have not yet been revealed, so comparisons are limited. Generally, the main change is an architecture upgrade from Zen4 to Zen5 and a manufacturing shift from 5nm to 4nm, with possible differences in clock speeds.

The cache sizes might remain similar, with the first-level cache being 480KB, second-level 6MB, and third-level 32MB, still totaling 102MB with 64MB of 3D V-Cache. In contrast, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D features higher specs, with a 512KB L1 cache, 8MB L2 cache, and a total of 104MB cache.

Overall, the Ryzen 5 9600X3D should outperform the 7600X3D, likely positioned between the performance levels of the 7600X3D and 7800X3D. The key question is how much better it will be than the 7600X3D and how much it will lag behind the 7800X3D—could the gap be minimal?

The upcoming focus should be on the Ryzen 5 9600X3D’s release date and pricing. Given its early promotion, rumors suggest it was developed alongside other Ryzen 9000 series models.

I speculate that its launch might coincide with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, expected between late October and early November, meaning the 9600X3D could be released by the end of the year or early next year.

Finally, pricing is crucial, especially since similar models like the 7600X3D, 7800X3D, and 9800X3D will be available. AMD needs to price the 9600X3D competitively without undermining other models, and there are currently no leaks on that front.

I’ll share more updates and rumors as they arise, so stay tuned.
