AMD has released a massive number of products at CES 2025, but compared to CPUs, AMD seems to have put less focus on the Radeon RX 9070 series graphics cards. Many are concerned that the performance of the Radeon RX 9070 series graphics cards may not be strong enough, leading AMD to focus more on CPUs. However, AMD has now denied this claim, stating that they have great confidence in the Radeon RX 9070 series graphics cards, and the large amount of content surrounding it warrants an independent launch event.
Donny Woligroski, AMD’s Senior Processor Technical Marketing Manager, stated in an interview that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 series graphics cards are very powerful. AMD plans to hold a special launch event for them. The reason they didn’t announce more about the new generation of graphics cards at CES is that there is a lot of information at CES, and AMD believes many important details might get lost in the noise. Therefore, they decided that holding a standalone graphics card launch event after CES 2025 might be a better approach.
Although AMD has confirmed they will hold a separate launch event for the graphics cards, the exact date is still unclear. They have mentioned that it won’t be too long of a wait. In addition, regarding the leaked performance specifications, AMD has stated that the actual performance of the graphics cards will be even better than what was leaked. There are reports suggesting that AMD originally planned to officially release the Radeon RX 9070 series graphics cards at the end of January, but now it seems they are aiming for a later release, possibly to prepare for the standalone graphics card event, as well as to evaluate the competition.
From the current leaks, it appears that the Radeon RX 9070 XT’s performance is quite close to the RTX 4080 SUPER, but its price is roughly half of that, making it especially suitable for players who prioritize cost-performance.
