Boost iPhone Battery: Start Saving Power Mode Before 20%!

Sometimes when we are out all day without carrying a power bank or access to charging, and we frequently need to use our phones, we worry that the iPhone’s battery might not last the whole day.

At such times, do we have to wait until the battery drops below 20% to enable Low Power Mode? Is there a way to automatically activate it at a preset battery level?

If you don’t mind a bit of setup, you can enable Low Power Mode manually through “Control Center” or “Settings” → “Battery”.

However, in the era of automation, there’s surely a way to have Low Power Mode activate automatically based on your preferred battery level setting.

Next, I’ll share how to use Shortcuts’ automation feature to set your iPhone to activate Low Power Mode when the battery reaches a certain level. This not only reduces power consumption and protects battery health but also reminds you to prepare for charging.

  1. Open “Shortcuts”, switch to the “Automation” tab, and tap the “+” in the top left corner.
  2. Manually browse or search for “Battery Level”, then select it.
  3. Adjust the slider to set your desired battery level.
  4. Choose between “Is” or “Is less than” depending on when you want to activate Low Power Mode.
  5. Under “Ask Before Running”, select according to your preference.
  6. For full automation, “Ask” may not be necessary.

If you want to be notified when Low Power Mode is activated, select “Show Notification”. For instance, setting it to activate Low Power Mode when the battery is below 35% will ensure it kicks in at 34%, conserving battery life and protecting your iPhone’s battery.
