The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) has raised its global semiconductor sales forecast for 2024, which is expected to hit a new record high. Memory sales are projected to surge by 80%, and the 2025 semiconductor sales forecast has also been upgraded, continuing the trend of new highs.
The forecast report indicates that strong AI-related investments are driving increased demand for logic chips such as GPUs and memory, leading to an upward revision of the 2024 global semiconductor sales forecast from $611.23 billion (as of June 4) to $626.87 billion, a 19% year-on-year increase, surpassing the 2022 figure of $574.08 billion, setting a new record.
The 2024 global IC sales forecast has been raised from $517.46 billion to $534.50 billion, a 24.8% increase. The global memory sales forecast has been revised from $163.15 billion to $167.05 billion, an 81% surge. Logic, including products like CPUs, has been increased from $197.66 billion to $208.72 billion, marking a 16.9% growth.
For 2025, the global semiconductor sales forecast has been revised from $687.38 billion to $697.18 billion, an 11.2% year-on-year increase, continuing to set new highs.
The IC sales forecast has been raised from $588.43 billion to $600.07 billion, a 12.3% increase. Within this, logic has been upgraded from $218.19 billion to $243.78 billion, reflecting a 16.8% increase, while memory sales have been reduced from $204.28 billion to $189.41 billion, still showing a 13.4% growth.
