20 Handy Windows 11 Keyboard Shortcuts to Streamline Tasks

Today, I’m introducing 20 keyboard shortcuts to help you significantly boost your efficiency on Windows. Mastering these shortcuts will make your work and study much easier. Let’s dive right in!

  1. Open File Explorer – Windows key + E
    If you frequently use File Explorer, just press Windows + E to open a new File Explorer window whenever you need it.
  2. Open Task Manager Directly – Ctrl + Shift + Esc
    Instead of using Ctrl + Alt + Delete, open Task Manager more quickly with Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
  3. Open Settings – Windows key + I
    To adjust system settings, press Windows + I to access the Settings app directly.
  4. Clipboard History – Windows key + V
    You can access your clipboard history with Windows + V, allowing you to paste items you copied earlier. Windows will prompt you to enable this feature if it’s your first time.
  5. Insert Emoji Anywhere – Windows key + Semicolon
    To insert emojis, press Windows + ; to bring up the emoji panel.
  6. Voice Input – Windows key + H
    Activate voice input with Windows + H, bringing up a floating window (in Windows 11) or a bar (in Windows 10).
  7. Open Power User Menu – Windows key + X
    To access various system settings quickly, use Windows + X to open the Power User menu.
  8. Lock Your Computer – Windows key + L
    To secure your computer, press Windows + L when you step away.
  9. Sound Settings – Ctrl + Windows key + V
    With Ctrl + Windows + V, access sound settings for quick adjustments, including volume and output device selection.
  10. Snap Windows – Windows key + Arrow
    Use Snap to position windows on your screen. Windows + Left Arrow and Windows + Right Arrow snap windows to the screen’s left or right halves. Windows + Alt + Up Arrow and Windows + Alt + Down Arrow move windows to the top or bottom halves.
  11. Activate Snap Layout – Windows key + Z
    Activate Snap Layouts with Windows + Z, then select a layout by pressing the corresponding number key.
  12. Toggle Full-Screen Mode in Games – Alt + Enter
    Switch between windowed and full-screen mode in most PC games with Alt + Enter.
  13. Switch Between Virtual Desktops
    To switch between virtual desktops, use Windows + Ctrl + Left Arrow and Windows + Ctrl + Right Arrow.
  14. Move Windows Between Displays – Windows key + Shift + Arrow
    Move windows between monitors with Windows + Shift + Left Arrow (left monitor) or Windows + Shift + Right Arrow (right monitor).
  15. Open Classic File Explorer Context Menu
    To open the classic context menu in File Explorer on Windows 11, right-click while holding Shift.
  16. Edit Text Faster
    Hold Ctrl while pressing Backspace to delete entire words or Left/Right Arrow to move across words. Ctrl + Shift + Arrow also highlights text by word.
  17. Reopen Closed Browser Tab – Ctrl + Shift + T
    Quickly reopen the last closed tab in any browser with Ctrl + Shift + T.
  18. Reverse Alt + Tab
    To navigate back through open windows, press Shift + Alt + Tab.
  19. Quick Rename Files
    Select a file, press F2 to rename it, and press Tab instead of Enter to rename the next file.
  20. Save Screenshot as File
    Press Windows + Print Screen to save a screenshot directly to the Screenshots folder under Pictures.
