CE Certification (CONFORMITE EUROPEENNE) #
The CE mark is a safety certification mark, regarded as a passport for manufacturers to access the European market. CE stands for European Conformity (CONFORMITE EUROPEENNE). Any product labeled with the ‘CE’ mark can be sold within the member states of the European Union without needing to comply with the requirements of each individual member state, thus enabling the free circulation of goods within the European Union member states.
FCC Certification (Federal Communications Commission) #
FCC stands for the Federal Communications Commission in the United States. They oversee the import and use of radio frequency devices, including computers, fax machines, electronic devices, radio receiving and transmitting equipment, radio-controlled toys, telephones, personal computers, and other products that may pose a risk to personal safety.
If these products intend to be exported to the United States, they must undergo testing and approval by government-authorized laboratories according to FCC technical standards.
VCCI Certification (Voluntary Control Council for Interference) #
VCCI is the electromagnetic compatibility certification mark in Japan, managed by the Voluntary Control Council for Interference by Information Technology Equipment. It assesses whether information technology products comply with VCCI requirements based on CISPR 22.
VCCI certification is not mandatory, but information technology products sold in Japan are generally required to undergo VCCI certification. Manufacturers must first apply to become members of VCCI before they can use the VCCI mark. To obtain VCCI approval, the provided EMI testing report must be issued by a testing organization registered and accredited by VCCI.
KC Certification (Korea Certification) #
The Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) has implemented a new national unified certification mark called the ‘KC Mark.’ It stands for Korea Certification. The KC Mark consolidates the existing 13 mandatory certification marks into a single new mark, significantly reducing certification costs for suppliers. This initiative aims to make the Korean KC Mark gradually evolve into a globally recognized certification mark.
EU RoHS Certification (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) #
EU RoHS is a mandatory standard established by European Union legislation. Its full name is the ‘Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive,’ which aims to limit the use of certain harmful substances in electrical and electronic equipment. This standard officially came into effect on July 1, 2006, and primarily regulates the materials and process standards for electrical and electronic products, with the goal of promoting human health and environmental protection.

TüV (Technischer überwachungs-Verein) #
TüV (Technischer überwachungs-Verein) translates to ‘Technical Inspection Association’ in English. The TüV mark is a safety certification mark customized for component products by the German TüV and widely accepted in Germany and Europe.
