RX 9060 XT vs RTX 5060: Full Gaming Performance Test

Strictly speaking, the fairest competitor to the GeForce RTX 5060 is the Radeon RX 9060, but since the latter has not yet been officially released, a true next-gen entry-level GPU face-off will have to wait.

This article compares the gaming performance of the GeForce RTX 5060 and the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB. While the outcome is predictable, the real point of interest is: just how much faster is the RX 9060 XT than the RTX 5060? This article aims to provide that answer.

The Radeon RX 9060 XT was launched on June 4, 2025, using the Navi 44 GPU based on the RDNA 4 architecture, manufactured with TSMC’s 4nm process. It features 2,048 shaders, 128 texture units, 64 raster units, 32 compute units, and 32 ray tracing units.

It includes 4MB of L2 cache and 32MB of L3 cache. The base clock is 1,700 MHz, and the boost clock reaches up to 3,130 MHz. It has a 128-bit memory interface and comes with 8GB or 16GB of GDDR6 running at 20.1 Gbps, resulting in a memory bandwidth of 322.3 GB/s. The power consumption is 160W. The 8GB version is priced at $299, and the 16GB version at $349.

The GeForce RTX 5060 was launched on May 19, 2025, using the GB206 GPU built on the Blackwell architecture and TSMC’s 4nm process. It features 3,840 CUDA cores, 120 texture units, 48 raster units, 30 streaming multiprocessors, 120 tensor cores, and 30 ray tracing cores. It has 32MB of L2 cache.

Its base clock is 2,280 MHz, with a boost clock up to 2,497 MHz. It comes with 8GB of GDDR7 memory running at 28 Gbps, with a 128-bit interface and a memory bandwidth of 448.0 GB/s. The FP32 compute performance is 19.18 TFLOPS. Power consumption is 145W, and the suggested retail price is $299.

RX 9060 XT leads by 17 FPS (~18%), 9 FPS higher minimum, ~2.2ms better frame time.

RTX 5060 leads by 6 FPS (~10%), 4 FPS higher minimum, though RX 9060 XT has ~2.7ms better frame time — small win for RTX 5060.

Game 7: The Last of Us Part II

RTX 5060 leads by 3 FPS (~4%), 2 FPS higher minimum, frame time roughly equal — effectively a tie with slight edge to RTX 5060.

Overall, compared to the GeForce RTX 5060, the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB shows a clear and significant advantage, offering a noticeably higher level of gaming performance. Although its power consumption is generally several dozen watts higher, its temperatures are actually lower.

Based on the data above, the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB delivers approximately 26% higher overall gaming performance than the GeForce RTX 5060. This conclusion is for reference only.
